"This volume explores the transformations that shape the physical environment in South Asia. The nature of architecture and city form is established as an expression of cultural paradigms which reflect the heterogeneity of regional identities. Emphasis is placed on understanding the dynamics of the physical transformations and their cultural and social determinants in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, with references to neighboring regions, including Sri Lanka, Nepal, Tibet, and Uzbekistan.
